Maneuvering your bike through steep and unfriendly terrain is quite a challenge. The challenge of getting through harsh terrains is not easy, often time you can get bruises and small wounds from bump and crashing through trees, but for the lovers of this sport, that’s what makes this sport really fun.

Some people are crazier about motor racing. Still there are many people who fail to realize the importance of safety which is always required for protection. You may easily find many mishaps and accidents may possibly cause deaths. These accidents took place due to the absence of helmet or any other security accessory while motor cycling.

Helmet is an essential accessory for the riders. This is considered an integral part of motor racing. These helmets protect the rider in case of any collision or crash. Various studies show that many people who get severely injured while accidents are just because of the absence of these safety guides.

The Gen on Gas Powered Scooters.

Published by Guest Author under Motorcycles

So, you have been thinking about getting a gas powered two-wheeler? If you have, gas powered scooters are probably the best machines to begin with. The majority of people who purchasegas powered scooters are worried about whether a gas powered scooter is street legal in traffic. This is not surprising ” every car driver has had the misfortune to get stuck behind a slow gas powerd scooter at some time or another and has wished that the scooter would get out of his way.

The speed of those gas powered scooters was virtually non-existent. However, modern gas powered scooters can keep up the traffic. It may not be recommend to take a gas powerd scooter or any scooter on the highway, but they do have the power to travel at high speeds, although the speed necessary to keep up with the flow of highway traffic may overwhelm a gas powered scooter. They are just not designed for sustained high speed travel.

Despite all this, gas powered scooters are almost the same as mini motorcycles. They can get up to a top speed of about 75 mph. That’s not so, is it? But it is just right for zipping around town like they were designed for.

As far as fuel economy is concerned, most gas powered scooters are able to accomplish 65 mpg, which is really quite exceptional millage. Furthermore, they usually come with a petrol tank that can hold about three gallons of gas, which gives them a range of about 200 miles.

Or to put it another way, if you used your gas powered scooter every day, every month you would probably have to fill the gas powered scooter up 3 to 4 times say, once a week, if that. If you compare that to a car’s mileage per gallon, it is probably between a fifth and a quarter of the cost, or even less if you are talking about big cars like SUVs. That is a massive saving with the way gas prices are bound to be going.

Gas powered motor scooters are also so very easy to operate. Owners will not have the problem of learning how to change gears as a motorcyclist does, as they are mostly automatic or semi-automatic these days. All the owner will have to do is: get on, turn the key and twist the grip for power. That is all you have to do and the motor scooter will take off in the direction you point it.

With regard to the issue of maintenance, maintenance for a gas powered scooter is pretty much like the maintenance on a motorcycle, car or truck. The motor scooters oil should be changed every 2,000 miles or so and a complete service should be done every 5,000 miles. This may differ slightly according to the manufacturers recommendations. It is recommended that one of the higher grade fuels be used for gas powered scooters.

It is of course up to you, but a general guideline is that 87 octane fuel is cheaper than all the other choices because the lower the number the less refined is the fuel, so it is therefore not as clean as 91 or 93 octane fuel. 93 octane has an agent added to the fuel that will help guard the moving parts of the engine and help to keep it clean over your gas powered scooters long lenth of service.

Last but not least, change the fuel filter often as this will help prevent muck and sludge from getting into the engine thereby causing deterioration and check the spark plugs every 2,000 to 3,000 miles and, as necessary, readjust the gap with feeler gauges. This should help preserve your gas powered scooter and keep it on the road giving great, inexpensive service for many years to come.

If you like gas powered scooters or are thinking about buying one, you should take a look at our recommendations first at: http://www.squidoo.com/gas-goped. This article, The Gen on Gas Powered Scooters. has free reprint rights.

A Triumph Rocket 3 In The Pyrenees

Published by Guest Author under Motorcycles

As I have got older I have suddenly started to think about all things that I wanted to do but have never got round to doing. One of those things was going on a European motorcycle tour, so when some friends suggested that we ride from London, England down through France and over the mountains into Spain, I decided that this was a trip not to be missed.

I had bought the Rocket Three just two months before leaving for this trip and had only covered 345 miles on it prior to the 2200 miles we were planning for the trip. To this end I had a number of extras fitted to the bike, including fog lamps, heated grips, a small summer screen, a backrest and sissy bar, fuel gauge and clock, leather panniers, and a riders backrest. Of all the above options it turned out that the best accessories I had had fitted were the heated grips and the riders backrest.

The ride from the ferry down to Millau had been mostly on the main routes, however Millau was today are starting point for our Pyrenees mountain phase with a stopover in Andorra. It had taken as three days to reach Millau, and the third day had been a ride through torrential rain. The third day had also see us reach heights of over 1600m which meant a reduction in temperature and combined with being soaking wet meant that the heated grips were a real comfort.

At first, riding into the foothills of the Pyrenees is quite easy. If long, straight sections of empty tarmac unveiled themselves to you until one reaches the mountains proper where the roads are cut into the mountain rock and become a series of twists and turns.

On a sports bike this is difficult enough, but on the vast Rocket it becomes very difficult indeed. I knew the Rocket would not be the best handling bike in the mountains, but I was unprepared for how difficult it would be.

My Rocket was the Classic version, i.e. with foot boards. I have never owned a cruiser before and maybe it was poor riding technique but I found that to corner sharply in the manner required on mountain roads meant that I was literally pushing down on one side of the handlebars whilst lifting up on the other side to make the turns. The result was that after about three quarters of an hour’s riding in the mountains my triceps were becoming quite painful and I was being left behind by the rest of the group.

The Rocket is a fantastic bike on the open road and even minor country lanes; it had also been fantastic in the wet, completely planted and stable even when overtaking large trucks which inspired confidence. However, I was completely embarrassed in the mountains as I simply could not maintain any sort of speed. As I have said, this may simply be to a lack of experience writing this type of motorcycle, but I reached our hotel in Andorra that night having already decided that the next day I would simply take the dual carriageway to Barcelona and let the others have their fun in the mountains.

Zac knows the importance of properly maintaining and protecting his garage of motorcycles, particularly when it comes to keeping the moisture off in storage. For this he uses Harley Davidson motorcycle covers. For more free details visit www.harleydavidsonmotorcyclecovers.net.

Triumph Rocket 3 Experience

Published by Guest Author under Motorcycles

Over the past 15 years, I have been lucky enough to own a number of latter-day Triumphs. With the prospect of a motorcycling tour of Europe, I rashly decided to buy the bike I have been promising myself for the past few years, a Triumph Rocket Three.

My “Classic” model looks great in blue and aluminium silver, together with a number of extras that I added to turn this bike into a proper touring machine.

I had never ridden any type of cruiser before, the and found the high bars and feet forward position a little difficult to get used to at first, but the sculpted fuel tank means that one’s knees are not forced wide apart, and after a few miles I found the whole set up very comfortable.

I had opted for a touring seat with riders back pad. The seat is wired and comfortable and the back pad means that when one opens the throttle on this 2.3 L beast one is carried along with the bike, rather than having to hold on tightly to the handlebars. This is great for someone like myself in late middle age!

Probably due to the weight of the bike, there is no centre stand but the side stand these more than sufficient. However, I have nearly dropped the bike a couple of times when pushing it forward with the side stand down, (usually a petrol pumps to allow somebody else to refuel). The side stand protrudes quite a long way, and it is very easy to trip over, so one has to be very careful.

The Rocket Three is easy to ride on the open road, with a fantastic 2.3 L power plant backed up with superb brakes. It is perhaps due to the sheer weight of the bike that even in storm conditions it is stable and feels completely in touch with the road at all times. The only area where it falls down is on mountain roads, but this is something of an unfair criticism given that it is not built for this type of road.

Above all else this bike attracts attention wherever it goes, so if you buy one be prepared to be the centre of attention!

Zac likes to take off riding on his collection of bikes. However, he also understands the importance of protecting them correctly when he’s not riding the world. For protection, he uses Harley Davidson motorcycle coversfor maximum protection. Visit www.harleydavidsonmotorcyclecovers.org.
