Bike Safety Tips : They’re Lifesavers!

Published by Guest Author under Motorcycles

An accident that’s simply an easy panel-beating exercise for a car or wagon can imply death or incapacity for a motorcyclist. It is not tricky to lose a limb, seriously damage interior organs, or become paralysed. Motorbike Safety Tip one : Buckle On That Helmet there’s frequently argument between those that trust in wearing a bike helmet and those that don’t. Pony sense would say it is difficult to isolate one single discourse from the no-helmet brigade that makes any sense. Research statistics further substantiate the discussion for wearing helmets, showing that large numbers of motorcyclists escape death by wearing them. A very commonplace motorbike accident eventuality is a rider being thrown off and landing on their head. For those wearing a good helmet, heavy head injuries can usually be averted. An ejected rider might finish up with a cruel headache, but at least they are alive! Even head injuries experienced at low impact can be deadly. A case was reported when a still motorcyclist was goofing around in his drive, lost his balance, slipped off the bike and hit his head on the concrete drive.

As he was not going anywhere, he probably did not have his helmet on. The result was sorrowful and could have been averted. A helmet is basically not an iron-clad guarantee that an accident or heavy injury will be avoidedno safety device is. Motorbike Safety Tip 2 : Wear Brightly-colored, Protecting Clothing Motorcyclists must wear the appropriate gear for protection and be glaringly detectable to other motorists. Motorbike accidents can be pretty horrible.

Bicyclists ejected from their motorbike can slide along the bitumen, and without defending leather clothing or boots can forcibly implant rocks, glass and other objects into their flesh. Bike Safety Tip three : Keep Awake And Stay Sober Fatigue and fatigue can seriously harm a motorcyclist’s reflexes and capability to react. Cyclists must avoid riding when terribly exhausted and take regular short breaks from driving.

Alcohol and other drugs also seriously affect judgment and may be carefully avoided when riding a motorbike. Bike Safety Tip 4 : accept Traffic Laws A major number of motorbike riders engaged in accidents are driving without licenses or are badly approved. Motorcyclists should guarantee their licence is always up to date, and take care to obey the traffic laws.

A regular refresh of road rules and local traffic laws is strongly recommended, and most undeniably don’t speed! Motorbike Safety Tip 5 : Bike Safety And Planning Motorcyclists should perform a motorbike safety inspection before each ride. Accidents often happen as a consequence of mechanical issues.

Plan in advance when riding in a group. Outline your route ahead and confirm it is coordinated with the other riders. Bike Safety Tip six : Continual Learning And Improvement A major proportion of motorcyclists involved in accidents had no driver coaching. Joining a motorbike coaching course is a good way of developing basic riding gifts. Once the basic methodologies are purchased, motorcyclists can sharpen their street-riding and accident-avoidance skills by taking a defensive driving course or advanced programme for motorcyclists. Motorcyclists have a responsibility to guard themselves as far as they can. By learning motorbike safety tips like wearing a good helmet, eye protection, defending clothing, and good boots, cyclists can be better provided when riding. You know it makes sense!

Things to consider when buying Motorcycle Chaps

Published by Guest Author under Motorcycles

Motorcycle drivers should wear safety equipments like helmets and gloves when riding a motorcycle to avoid dangerous physical damages in case accidents happen. All equipments are important. While you are on a ride, these equipments provide you comfort as well as protect you from any harm and danger.

Motorcycle chaps are the essential part of your gear and apparel which provide your lower body parts complete protection. Motorcycle chaps have holes between their legs although they look like trousers. This is just easy to wear and aims to provide a greater range of movement for a more comfortable fit. When there is rain, you can still go for a ride because these equipments are waterproof.

The following are reminders to take note before buying your chaps.

When buying chaps, make sure that you can move more. As much as possible, the chaps should give your legs the capacity to move freely for a better, easier and safer ride.

Make sure it is comfortable to wear. Primarily, try and test the chaps you are going to buy to ensure you are comfortable to avoid wriggling while riding on a motorcycle.

It should give you the protection you need. Motorcycle chaps should give your thighs and legs proper support. To keep you from being harmed, choose chaps that can give you full protection. Go for comfort and protection first before thinking of style.

A durable leather material is advised for your chaps. Other types of leather when worn are not that comfortable compared to the authentic ones. For protection and durability, make sure that you have the sturdy and genuine leather. The most trusted brand when it comes to chaps is Harley Davidson.

The chaps should be functional. The chaps can make you at ease more if they are used for other reasons. An example for this is the leather chaps from Harley-Davidson which has zipper pockets you can use for your important belongings.

It should not be difficult to maintain. It would be okay to use simple cleaning method to wipe off stains using damp cloth and mild soap. You do not want to take up the whole day in cleaning or waiting for the chaps to dry up. The chaps should be easy to clean.

When worn, chaps should be hassle-free. Wear chaps with zippers for you to wear and take those chaps off easily.

A motorcycle helmet should be used when you are on ride. Your helmet protects your head from any injury during an accident. Motorcycle chaps and helmets are both important in riding a motorcycle.

New Arai 2011 Helmet – The Vector 2

Published by Guest Author under Motorcycles

The name is familiar, but the design is innovative and new. The 2011 Vector 2 helmet from Arai follows the enormously popular Vector series of helmets. The Vector 2 was designed around the same less-is-more theory as the original Vector. It is a top-of-the-line full face motorcycle helmet that makes no compromises when it comes to safety, performance, comfort and fit.

The head-friendly “intermediate oval” fit is highly desired as it will fit most head shapes very well. It is designed to optimize ventilation and alleviate pressure points. The removable and replaceable comfort lining is available in several different size options to fine-tune the fitment and they have added 5mm peel-away pad layers at the temple and cheek areas to help you fully customize the fit of the helmet.

In typical Arai fashion, the redesign of the Vector 2 includes improved ventilation. The front intake vent is larger and also has a bigger, easier to use switch for the mechanism that allows you to completely close it off. The rear vent/wing combination has been wind tunnel tuned to allow more interior ventilation and heat removal. The vent has been fine-tuned to create 50% more vacuum than the Vector. The side ports are also larger – helping with even more ventilation and a reduction of noise levels.

The innovative Hyper-Ridge Band that was first seen on the RX-Q has also been incorporated into the redesign. The band lowers the center of gravity of the helmet, making it feel lighter, and creates rock-solid stability at speed. The bottom opening of the helmet is larger, making it easier to get it on and off.

The eye port, adopted from the super-performing Corsair V racing helmet, is wider for increased peripheral vision and it uses the same SAI visor as the Corsair V and the RX-Q models.

Lastly, the Vector 2 has undergone all of the exhaustive test required to meet the Snell 2010 and DOT standards. The Snell 2010 rating makes this helmet a “world-wide” helmet which means it meets all US and European standards.

The Vector 2 is available in size XS through XXL and the prices start at $431.95, for the solids and diamond solids, and top out at $548.95 for the graphics. The available solid colors are white, black, frost black, silver, red and yellow. The diamond solids come in black, blue, grey and white and there are 5 different graphic designs.

Arai undoubtedly makes a quality helmet with no compromises. If there is any doubt that Arai is a favorite of motorcyclists everywhere, their run at the top of JD Power’s customer satisfaction ratings for eleven years in a row…. should erase them.

Sportbikes – The Dangers of a Passion

Published by Guest Author under Motorcycles

Sportbikes are made for speed and designed for agility. Their power combined with their light weight require a rider to be experienced in performing precisely and fluidly at very high speeds. Ask any rider and they will tell you that those particular qualities can make for the ride of a lifetime, or, alternatively, end in tragedy. The margin of error at 150 mph is extremely narrow.

Sportbikes are best suited for the race track even though most production bikes are used for street riding, canyon carving and even daily commuting. Safety should be every rider’s number one priority. With all of the elements we face daily on public roads, street bike riders suffer from general disadvantages on many levels to begin with. Cage drivers (car drivers) often don’t see us, we don’t have seat belts and/or airbags to help protect us, and to top it off, we are essentially straddling 400 lbs. of machine that can be thumped off the road by a wayward piece of gravel. Ultimately, we choose to ride finely-tuned, tightly-wound, twitchy performance machines with power-to-weight ratios that make even the most responsible riders prone to pull idiotic moves…. I’m guilty!!

The best thing we have going for us is amazingly innovative, easily obtainable and extremely affordable protective gear. For most motorcycle riders it is not a matter of if you go down, but a matter of when and how bad – some can even toss in “how many times”. Protective gear like a helmet and leathers certainly can’t guarantee your survival in the case of an accident, but they will definitely increase your odds.

Follow the examples of the professional sportbike racing icons we have all come to respect and admire. You would never see MotoGP riders Valentino Rossi, Nicky Hayden or Casey Stoner rocketing around the Twin Rings of Motegi in jeans and a t shirt without a helmet.

Whether you choose to ride a small displacement supersport bike like a CBR600RR, or a performance geared, liter-class super bike like the Honda CBR1000RR and the Suzuki GSX-R1000, or even a hypersport bike like the Hayabusa or Kawasaki ZX-14, repeat, repeat and remember…. learn it, respect it, live it, love it, GEAR UP and ride!!

The Importance Of Motorcycle Helmet

Published by Guest Author under Motorcycles

Whenever one decided for a motorcycle, it is important that they know the importance of having to wear helmets for safety reasons. This is because of the fact that motorcycle riders are more susceptible for crash and accidents. Regardless of different attempts to emphasize safety, people are still ignoring the importance of having to wear a good helmet.

Head injuries are the most rampant cause of death when it comes to motorcycle accidents. Severe injuries or deaths could have been prevented if riders would recognized the fact that helmet absorbs much of the force of impact. The rising mortality rates including this kind of accidents prompted the government to implement law that requires riders to wear helmets.

Most of the helmets available on the market are made from plastic. Crumple zones are designed to absorb most of the shock or impact. Combination of carbon fiber and Kevlar made helmets are the most expensive one usually.

Helmets, are designed with pad interiorly, this helps fit more securely thus offering added protection. In the events of collision, certain areas of the helmet are designed to crack so as to absorb shock.

When availing a good helmet, there are several factors that you have to consider. These are the type of motorcycle and the weather condition. Helmets for motocross and racing can also be different. The types of helmets which are specially made for motorcycle riders are:

The Full Face Helmet provides the greatest cover for the head and face. The rider is protected against debris and insects by the face shield as this could disrupts the rider’s concentration. In the event of crash, this prevents injury to the face and head.

The kind of helmet that is also called flip up is the Modular helmet since the front portion can be pivoted upwards. When closed, it resembles the full face helmet.

For those who ride dirt bikes, the Motocross is the helmet designed especially for them. It provides extra protection for the chin and visor of the rider. This helmet requires the wearing of goggles for full protection since it has an open face design.

The helmet that only covers the head only and has no chin bar or protection for the face is the Open Face helmet. This requires the rider to use goggles to be protected against debris.

The kind of helmet that gives very little protection in the event of a collision is the Half Helmet. This kind of helmet can be useful for travelling short distances only.

The growing numbers of motorcycle related deaths are caused by head injuries. As such, the helmet as a protective device and important piece of motorcycle gear cannot be overstated and ignored. Riders can find many designs available which should suit even the most receptive riders.

Full face motorcycle helmets are the complete head protection that everybody can get. It is a kind of motorcycle helmet that can help people to have the full protection they want to have.

Riding Motorcycle Can Be Comfortable If You Got The Right Gear Setup In Place

Published by Guest Author under Motorcycles

The Arai company has been a family owned and operated business since the 1930s and has taken great pride in creating the Sportbike Motorcycle Helmet for the last three family generations. For those three generations, the Arai company has prided themselves on creating helmets that are different and higher quality than that of their competitors. The quality and durability in their designs is what makes them one of the top motorbike helmet companies in the world.

Helmets from Arai can be and are designed to cater to the individual needs of each rider. These helmets also provide each rider with the comfort that he or she desires while riding. Since this is the case with these helmets, anyone regardless of their size or shape is able to find a helmet that fits their needs. Taking into consideration the long trips that riders like to take, the said helmets can be worn for hours and days on end while still providing a level of comfort.

These helmets have always been created with the highest of motorbike helmet standards in mind. In guaranteeing their efficacy, the helmets are all hand crafted. Once each stage of the helmet building is completed, the helmet is taken through various tests to make sure they are durable and composed to the standards of the company.

Testing is first done when the outer shell of the helmet has been assembled. The next one comes when the helmet has had its artwork completed on the outer shell. The final test is completed once all of the parts, face shield, sun shield, etc. are put together to make sure that nothing will fall off while a rider is on a ride.

Each of the Sportbike Motorcycle Helmet is specifically altered to incorporate the individual tastes of the rider. They have helmets available for those individuals who prefer to shield their entire face. Other helmets are available for those who prefer everything but the front part of their face covered. Finally, there are helmets that provide protection from the rays of the sun.

When a helmet of these is purchased by an individual, the purchaser can be assured that his or her helmet is backed by a limited five year warranty. This warranty provides the rider with the knowledge that their money is backed in their satisfaction and if anything goes wrong with the helmet, they will be able to exchange it. This warranty not only gives the rider peace of mind about their purchase, but also shows the lengths that the Company is willing to go to make sure they are making a superior product.

Riding motorbikes has been a past time for generations of people. With an Arai helmet, each rider can be ensured that they are protected while they are riding. As long as riding remains a past time, Arai Sportbike Motorcycle Helmets will be around to protect the heads of those who choose to ride.

Bikers Data For Alpinestars Sportbike Motorcycle Boots

Published by Guest Author under Motorcycles

Alpinestars sportbike motorcycle boots have been in production since 1963 when the company was first established. Today’s motorcyclists are in need of as much protection as they can get. Even though Alpinestars have been manufacturing boots for at least 45 years, through many technological advances, their philosophy towards creating a functional and innovative product has not deviated over time.

Alpinestars manufacture an amazing range of boots for the motorcyclist, designed in a multitude of styles and priced to suit any pocket. Many of the boots on offer are manufactured using modern materials and utilize up to date manufacturing techniques. Common to many boots from this manufacturer are high tech, durable micro fiber uppers which offer a high degree of flexibility.

Offering a high standard of protection and performance, the boots feature a double injection outer shell, shielding the heel, toe, shin and ankle from high impact forces whilst simultaneously cutting down on abrasion. The inner lining is a double injection panel which connects with the heel counter, is hidden underneath the outside shell and runs over the outside of the ankle. This quick drying polyamide lining is laminated and uses an open cell type foam and contoured high density padding for absorbing any impact in the area of the foot.

Many of Alpinestars sportbike motorcycle boots have air vents around the ankle and feature a unique mesh that covers the heel and toe allowing the wearer’s foot to breathe whilst at the same time repelling moisture. The inside leg of the boot features a zipper which has an extra wide hooked flap that is both comfortable and is wide enough to slip on easily. The specially designed compound making up the rubber sole uses a structured shank as reinforcement and renders good support for the arches.

Besides making general purpose motorcycle boots, Alpinestars also produce high range boots for the racetrack. One of these boots, the Supertech R Vented Boot, comprises a boot liner completely separate from the outer boot shell. The inside liner is manufactured from a lightweight, breathable, micro fiber product. Integrated into this liner is double hinged gel padded plastic, inside and outside torsion bars to protect the ankles and to disperse energy on impact.

The lightweight racing boots weigh no more than a quart oil can. Manufactured to complement the Alpinestars racing leathers, the inside lining goes over the lower leg portion of the suit but can also slip inside the leg if the rider prefers this. Featuring true fitting sizes, the boots can be pulled on quickly using a speed draw lacing technique inherent in the inner liner and a wide zipper on the outside with a flap of stretch material to stop the zip from sticking.

The racing boot comes with a fairly steep price tag, but if a rider is competing on the track then safety must surely be of higher priority than cost. Alpinestars sportbike motorcycle boots are highly prized as can be seen by the number of track stars that use them.

Some Background On HJC Sportbike Motorcycle Helmets

Published by Guest Author under Motorcycles

HJC sportbike motorcycle helmets, recognized as a leading product in the industry, are produced by Korean based HJC. Apart from its research and development services in Korea, the company is spread throughout China, Vietnam, Europe and North America. From 1971, the company has concentrated only on the manufacture of motorcycle helmets. The success of HJC has evolved from its new ideas and advanced manufacturing processes coupled with affordable prices. The HJC objective is to supply high quality, comfortable, affordable motorcycle helmets throughout the world.

The company extended its product range by introducing the full face type FS15 helmet during 2009 together with a brand new Sunshield range of helmets. HJC’s innovative and technical capabilities were enhanced with the introduction of these helmets which featured composite shells and advanced ventilation and channeling systems. The FS15 contained features normally associated with higher priced headgear. Carbon fiber and fiberglass are both used to make this helmet.

The lighter weight of the carbon fiber helmets are more comfortable for riders. The new helmets in the IS range sport have built in sunshield system offering instant protection against the sun late in the afternoon. The concept makes use of a mechanism on a central track which opens or closes in an instant, for immediate optical protection thereby avoiding having to stop to change shields.

Another of the popular HJC sportbike motorcycle helmets introduced after a three year period of research and development, proved to be the RPS-10 which emerged after the company had invested heavily in its manufacturing and test site. Twenty different design prototypes emerged to be tested for a number of things like vibration, stability, noise and aerodynamics, in a wind tunnel purposely built for the tests.

Featuring three variable air intakes at the front, with one being in front of the chin and the other two above the head, the RPS-10 is well ventilated. The top ones are quite unique, employing a rolling design allowing the intakes to be incrementally adjusted over six distinct positions. A hand wearing gloves can easily adjust any of the buttons. The intakes inside the helmet are complemented by the air that is directed via the Advanced Channeling System through ducts in the foam lining, over the head and out of the helmet at the back, which keeps the wearer’s head quite cool.

As the RPS-10′s shell is very new, HJC has authorized just six engineers to operate the molding apparatus used in the manufacture of each of the three separate sizes of shell that make up the range. Lighter than the conventional way of producing a fiberglass helmet, the carbon fiber molding uses a totally different technique.

To repel odors, Gingkomin, an anti-bacterial fabric is used in the interior of the shell. This lining can be removed for washing when it becomes soiled. The helmet liner has grooves to accommodate the wearers of spectacles, avoiding the need to push them into the temples. The manufacturers of HJC sportbike motorcycle helmets have a stated objective of producing quality helmets for all motorcycle riders.
